Introduction to Rubber Accelerator TBBS (NS)

Accelerator NS, also known as accelerator TBBS, chemical name N-tert-butyl-2-benzothiazole sulfenamide, the appearance is grey-white powder or granular, with a special smell. Accelerator NS is insoluble in water, but soluble in ethanol, acetone, benzene, ethyl acetate, dichloromethane, tetrachloromethane, carbon tetrachloride, etc. Accelerator NS belongs to the sulfenamide vulcanization accelerator and is a common aftereffect rubber accelerator.

Accelerator NS has the advantages of general sulfonamide accelerators, with excellent scorch resistance and vulcanization speed, and good safety property. Compared with the traditional accelerator NOBS, the accelerator NS has similar performance and no carcinogenicity, and can be used instead of the accelerator NOBS. The performance of accelerator NS is also close to that of accelerator CBS (accelerator CZ), and its use is similar to that of the latter, and its aftereffect is greater in comparison.

Accelerator NS can be used as retardation accelerator for natural rubber, isoprene rubber, butadiene rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber and natural rubber reclaimed rubber. This product is very safe at the operating temperature. It is suitable for oil furnace carbon black rubber with relatively high alkalinity. It has slight pollution. It is mainly used in the manufacture of tires, retreads, rubber hoses, tapes, rubber shoes, cables, etc. It can also be used in extruded products.

The manufacturing method of accelerator NS is as follows: slowly add 0.75mol of tert-butylamine to 0.5mol of 13% sodium salt solution of accelerator M, and then add 0.36mol of 25% sulfuric acid solution after 0.5h, at 45°C React at -50°C for 0.5h, then add 0.6mol of 15% sodium hypochlorite solution within 2h, and after reacting for a certain period of time, cool the mixture, centrifuge, wash, and dry below 50°C to obtain this product.
